October 14 - World Standards Day.
The members of IEC, ISO and ITU celebrate World Standards Day each year in appreciation and respect for the joint efforts of thousands of experts around the world who develop voluntary technical agreements that are published as International Standards.
And this year, the message for World Standards Day 2022 is the same as last year: "A shared vision for a better world". The SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), which are aimed at solving social inequalities, developing a sustainable economy and slowing the rate of climate change, are extremely ambitious. Their achievement requires the cooperation of all partners in the public and private sectors and the use of all available tools, including international standards and conformity assessment.
The goal of the United Nations Sustainable Development Agenda and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030 is to transform our world into a better world. The intense fight against a global pandemic has revealed even more the absolute necessity of addressing the Sustainable Development Goals SDGs, to strengthen our societies, making them better quality, more resilient and fairer. This is the opportunity to join us in a mission that affirms the importance of the SDGs to better build and develop the goals.
With this in mind, we are committed to making World Standards Day an unforgettable journey and strive to showcase the myriad ways in which international standards contribute to the success of the SDGs The entire system of standards is built on cooperation. It is a testament to the power of cooperation and the belief that we are stronger when we are united. Working together, we empower people to directly address sustainability challenges with concrete solutions.
We are united in working together to accelerate the achievement of the 2030 Agenda, putting standards at the service of the Sustainable Development Goals with a "Shared Vision for a Better World".
