Objective of the life cycle management system

is to provide organizations with a framework for environmental protection and respond to changes in environmental conditions in balance with social-economic needs. It specifies the requirements that enable the organization to realize the intended results, which the organization sets, for its environmental management system.

MKC EN ISO 14001 helps an organization achieve the intended results of its environmental management system, which provide value for the environment, the organization itself and stakeholders. In accordance with the organization's environmental policy, the planned results of the environmental management system include:

· improvement of environmental performance;

· fulfillment of compliance obligations;

· achieving environmental goals.

MKC EN ISO 14001 is applicable to any organization, regardless of size, type and nature, and applies to the environmental aspects of its activities, products and services that the organization determines it can control or influence from an environmental perspective. cycle.

MKC EN ISO 14001 can be used in whole or in part for the systematic improvement of environmental management.

A systematic approach to environmental management can provide top management with information that will help them achieve long-term success and create opportunities that will contribute to sustainable development through:

  • environmental protection by way of prevention or mitigation of harmful environmental impacts;
  • mitigating the potential harmful effect of the environmental condition of the organization;
  • assisting the organization in meeting its compliance obligations;
  • improving environmental performance;
  • controlling or influencing the way an organization's products and services are designed, manufactured, distributed, used and disposed of, using life cycle
  • perspectives, so that environmental impacts can be prevented from being unintentionally displaced elsewhere, within of the life cycle. achieving financial and operational benefits that may result from the application of alternative environmental benefits, which strengthen the organization's market position.

This International Standard, as with other International Standards, is not intended to increase or change the legal requirements of the organization.

Success factors

 The success of an environmental management system depends on the commitment of all levels and functions of the organization, led by top management. Organizations can take advantage of the opportunity to prevent or mitigate harmful environmental impacts, especially those with strategic and competitive consequences. Top management can effectively address the organization's risks and opportunities so that environmental management is integrated into the organization's work process, strategic direction and decision-making, alignment with other work priorities, and the inclusion of environmental management in the overall system. for management. Demonstration of the successful application of this International Standard can be used to ensure that interested parties have implemented an effective environmental management system.

The application of this International Standard may vary from organization to organization, depending on the context of the particular organization. Two organizations may carry out similar activities but may have different responsibilities for compliance, environmental policy commitment, environmental technology and environmental performance targets, yet both may be compliant with the requirements of this International Standard.
