In order to perform the works and tasks in the field of standardization determined by the Law on Standardization, the Government of the Republic of Macedonia establishes the Institute for Standardization of the Republic of Macedonia as the only national standardization body in the Republic of Macedonia with the status of a public institution competent to prepare, approve or adopt standards in all areas covered by the European Committee for Standardization (CEN), the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC), the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and the European Telecommunications Institute for Standardization (ETSI).
The bodies of the Institute are:
Board for control of the material-financial operation.
The Assembly of ISRSM consists of the members of ISRSM. The body that manages the work of the Institute is The Council. The Council of ISRSM was established by a decision of the Assembly of ISRSM.
The Council consists of nine members, in the following composition:
three representatives of the founder;
three representatives of the industry, including at least one representative from the sector for small and medium enterprises;
one representative from higher professional educational institutions;
one representative from the employees of the Institute and
one representative from chambers of commerce, consumer organizations, consulting and certification bodies, inspection bodies and all other interested parties.
The Institute is managed by director. The Director is elected and dismissed by the Council in accordance with the provisions of the Law and the Statute of the Institute.
The competencies of the Assembly, the Council and the director of ISSRM are prescribed in more detail in the Law on Standardization and the Statute of ISSRM.
ISRSM implements the standardization system in the Republic of Northern Macedonia through preparation, adoption and promotion of Macedonian standards and standardization documents, presentation, coordination and participation in the work of international and European standardization bodies.
ISRSM provides information on Macedonian, European and international standards, sells standards and issues standardization publications.
