Tools for reducing greenhouse gas emissions

Climate change is the biggest threat facing humanity and biodiversity. The standards play a key role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, especially carbon dioxide (CO2). That's why today we want to share some concrete resources for reducing the emissions that drive climate change.

There are different types of greenhouse gases that are emitted in different processes, and some are particularly harmful. Organizations need a clear picture of their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions so they can better target and control them. Therefore, the starting point for all programs for the control and then elimination of greenhouse gas emissions is the basic data list. Data on the Carbon Footprint (CFP) of processes and products enables organizations, regulatory bodies and companies to make decisions and then monitor their progress in reducing emissions.

The ISO 1406x series of standards provide the tools to measure emissions and report progress in a way that is consistent, comparable, traceable and, above all, valid.

These are the next series of standards, ISO 1406x adopted as the Macedonian IEC

For more information, including some examples of how the standards are being applied by regulatory bodies and organizations to mitigate climate change, you can get information from the ISO brochure Climate change mitigation. This brochure describes the ISO 1406x series of standards and how they contribute to the transition to a zero-carbon economy.

The ISO Brochure is available in English and you can download it
